The Smouldering Ashes of a Phoenix Burnt

Time cannot wipe my tears and mind clean,
Your touch lingers on my skin,
Nothing left to fill the void,
Now an empty cavern within.
I've seen through the looking glass,
Glimpsed a wonderland I cannot un-see,
Each moment feels double aged,
A decade of loss truly in one day.
When I close my eyes I see you still,
On opening them, alas, thou meltst away.
The embers art glowing way down deep,
Where roaring furnaces once burnt alive,
Promises we now cannot keep,
Passions, alack, not enough to bridge the divide.
I'm transformed but know not where I now fit.
I will grasp tight if you bring my joy back,
And stop all heat escaping the crack.

Threnos

A huge Phoenix glorious
And a regal Pelican
With red hot beak,
Fell into an eternal embrace
Never to part ever again.

Mourned by the Swan of Avon,
The great Bard of the World bygone.

What will these ashes bring forth
In the Worlds to come?
